Join our amazing T&L SIG team!

The Teaching and Learning Special Interest Group (T&L SIG) at the BES is looking for new committee members.

The SIGs are discipline-specific arms of the British Ecological Society, which are run by a small committee of motivated volunteers. The SIGs’ remit is to engage BES members and non-members with a specific area of ecology and to develop activities that meet the broad strategic aims of the Society.

We have two exciting opportunities to join the Teaching and Learning Group committee. As a committee we aim to work with our members to champion good practice in T&L, to provide pedagogical development opportunities for SIG members, and to be a leader in the debate about T&L in ecology.

As the Communications Rep you will be responsible for:

  • Attending the online SIG committee meetings (~4 times a year)
  • Running the SIG twitter account (posting about blogs and events, retweeting posts of interest to the SIG members)
  • Maintaining the SIG website (updating content and providing the external facing information for SIG members)
  • Updating the SIG Blog (finding and contacting people, editing, uploading and publishing blogs)
  • Supporting the work of the committee in running T&L events and other activities

As the ECR/New to Teaching Rep you will be responsible for:

  • Attending the online SIG committee meetings (~4 times a year)
  • Staying up to date with issues in education that are relevant to ECRs and/or those new to teaching
  • Bringing to the committee any issues in education that may be relevant to ECRs and those new to teaching
  • Supporting the work of the committee in running T&L events and other activities
